A seasonal playa-lake in the desert, c.15×3 km, which floods in years of good rain and which can then last for several months. After rain, crustaceans and toads Bufo viridis proliferate. A large farm has been established in the surrounding steppe desert, irrigated from the qa; the rest of the area is used as rangeland. There is a military base near the site.
